Why do a lot of kids these age not know about talented celebrties?

A lot of my friends hear about people like Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Tom Cruise (Only because people are saying he's crazy and not talk about his older movies), Paris Hilton, and Kim Kardashian. But, when mentioning celebrities like Chris Knight, Kerr Smith, Sarah Michelle Geller, Tatumn O'neal, and Brooke Sheilds, they go "Who is that?" Yesterday, me and my partner in Interpersonal Relationships had to do a project on a famous celebrity and we chose Kerr Smith and these two guys chose to do Chris Knight. When we showed the kids the picture of them, they said "Who is that?" Like they were UFO's. I don't understand why people don't know the good celebs now-a-days.Why do a lot of kids these age not know about talented celebrties?

Like think of it dis way, Lil Wayne is not that talented, he has catchiy beats thats it that arent even made by him, most of Lil Wayne's beats are made by Scott Storch who was taught by Dr. Dre( Dr Dre being older generation)



But people like tupac and nas and so on dont always make catchy songs are always making making songs with meanin

I'd say the celebrities you've mentioned have dubious talentsWhy do a lot of kids these age not know about talented celebrties?

Kerr Smith is hardly a 'celebrity'

he was on like, 3 episodes of dawsons creek. and did a pretty bad job i might add. on the CREEK! i only remember him because i was hardcore about that show when it was on. and im not ashamed to admit it.

It's cos TVS getting into their minds all they are seeing is b******* like Vanessa Anne Hudgens on tv and thinking if celebrities don't look her they're not celebrities
To be honest I could say the same thing about the celebrities you listed as "Good celebrities". Because to me, most of them are Z-listers.

How old are you? Cause why would these kids know anything other than that, I'm presuming you're American, and people like Miley Cirus and the Jonas brithers and Paris Hilton are all over tv and the radio so it's understandable if they're not exposed to anything better.
I think it's because the media has really gotten a hold of this generation and hyps these children up with everything they can about what is current. There is not so as much media or was not on certain celebrities and it's a shame but that is the way society is heading. I guess it's not a shame that there is not as much media on the other ones but the thing is they dont get any recognition the way young celebrities do . Then again they probably did at one point or another and these kids probably never saw any of that. The only thing you can do is teach them.

It's because today we have shows geared toward kids. In my day the shows for kids were Saturday morning and were cartoons. Such fantasy is not allowed today because of the violence. Heaven forbid some kid might call ACME and order a rocket and try to fly on it to catch a running bird. Today the kids get all the Disney shows that teach them how to be smart asses and disrespect others.
Because people like Miley Cyrus and the rest of the disney stars are who they're growing up with as a celebrity. Everyone likes the celebrities they grow up with...there's really no reason in their mind to like someone that was famous when their parents were kids, no matter how talented they might be.
