Is it better to take highway 1 or 101 when traveling up the N. Cali. coast from Napa to Redwood National Park?

I will be traveling in Northern California this summer and I'm looking for some good advice from knowledgeable people. Any tips that could add to the enjoyment and ease of travel would be greatly appreciated. From San Francisco I will be traveling to Napa and then on to Redwood National Park, Chico, Penn Valley, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, and then back to San Francisco. Additionally if you know of any great parks to camp at please share. Is it better to take highway 1 or 101 when traveling up the N. Cali. coast from Napa to Redwood National Park?
There are options that would allow you to go Hwy 1 part of the way and Hwy 101 the rest of the way. Be sure and visit Muir Woods, and also Armstrong Woods State Park - great places to walk among the giant redwoods. Visit the lighthouses along the coast too.Is it better to take highway 1 or 101 when traveling up the N. Cali. coast from Napa to Redwood National Park?
Take Highway 1, much more fun to drive and see. Outside of Chico check out Lassen Volcanic Park. Yosemite is really pretty but CROWDED. Frankly, you can see the park in one day and camp somewhere else. Oh and take the ferry around the Bay Area, it's fun and scenic.
