No. It is a National Park because of it's natural beauty and uniqueness. Nothing historic happened there. National Historic Sites are protected areas of national historic significance. National Historic Sites are usually small places or buildings where key events occurred or historical figures lived, such as Ford's Theater, Carl Sandburg's home, Little Rock Central School, Vanderbilt Mansion, etc. With such a designation, they are regulated in such a way that the any proposed changes to the building or surroundings must go through an approval process.
