Do you think it's a good idea to let a 1 year old non-walker wear hard soled shoes?

We just came back from my daughter's 12 month check up; we were seen by the NP. I brought up the fact that my daughter stands and cruises only on her tippy toes (she's not walking yet). The nurse watched her stand by the chair, and said she'd never really seen anything like that. She tried bending and stretching my daughter's feet, which she was able to do quite easily. She told me that I should push her feet up to stretch the tendons in the back, and that my daughter should wear high hard soled shoes when she's awake.

I know that before babies start walking, they shouldn't wear shoes at all. I also know, that it's not unusual for babies to be on their tippy toes. However, I don't see how she's going to learn how to walk without putting her entire foot down. She's been doing that since she was born. When she's in her jumper, or exersaucer, she's also on her toes.

I didn't want to say to the nurse that I wanted a second opinion from the doctor, but now that I though about it, I'm not sure which way to go with this. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Thanks!Do you think it's a good idea to let a 1 year old non-walker wear hard soled shoes?
It's hard to remember but I think my daughter walked on her toes until she was fully walking. Cruising was mainly on toes, I think. She now is two and has been walking properly since she started. I wouldn't do hard soled shoes, seems like it wouldn't solve any problem - not that I think there is a problem though. Maybe get a second opinion. You are right, it is recommended that do not wear any shoes while learning to walk - hard soled walkers/pre-walkers are not recommended anymore.Do you think it's a good idea to let a 1 year old non-walker wear hard soled shoes?
stride rite have prewalking shoes that have soles on them like regular shoes but the are flex able enough so they are not too stiff, my son had a pair of them before he started to walk i put them on him as often as i could, he did not like them or any other shoes but he wore them and then he eventually learned to walk the tippy toe thing my son is 2 1/2 and still walks on his tippy toes
