Should I let my 1 year old wear hard soled shoes to correct her feet?

We just came back from my daughter's 12 month check up; we were seen by the NP. I brought up the fact that my daughter stands and cruises only on her tippy toes (she's not walking yet). The nurse watched her stand by the chair, and said she'd never really seen anything like that. She tried bending and stretching my daughter's feet, which she was able to do quite easily. She told me that I should push her feet up to stretch the tendons in the back, and that my daughter should wear high hard soled shoes when she's awake.

I know that before babies start walking, they shouldn't wear shoes at all. I also know, that it's not unusual for babies to be on their tippy toes. However, I don't see how she's going to learn how to walk without putting her entire foot down. She's been doing that since she was born. When she's in her jumper, or exersaucer, she's also on her toes.

I didn't want to say to the nurse that I wanted a second opinion from the doctor, but now that I though about it, I'm not sure which way to go with this. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Thanks!Should I let my 1 year old wear hard soled shoes to correct her feet?
No, do not put her in hard sole high tops. Those are horrible for their feet. My daughter has been standing on her tip toes since she started cruising, she is now 20 months and still walks on her toes most of the time. I asked her Dr about putting her in hightops and he said that it use to be the norm but they have done studies on them that show that they do more damage than correct the issue. Give her time, she just needs to get use to walking. Also, a lot of the babies who jump in jumpers often get use to standing on their toes because of it.
Both my boyfriend and I have seen babies walk on tippie toes and it seems cute and as far as we know these babies were fine. You need a foot specialist maybe and not just baby doctors as these are generally the one to see, maybe there is something they missed in the foot department. We have Dr Hosak here in Lake Jackson tx. Two of them, father and son. Look one up or something.Should I let my 1 year old wear hard soled shoes to correct her feet?
here is what i found http://www.babycenter.com/0_your-child-i鈥?/a>

my daughter is almost 11 months old and when she cruises she does a lot of toe walking but when we are working with her trying to get her to walk she can balance with her feet flat - i am assuming that when she starts actually walking the situation will correct itself.
