This sound doesn't happen when I am accelerating or cruising -- only when I slow down by releasing the gas (not using the breaks). I also notice it when coasting downhill. What could it be?I have a 2000 Dakota. When I release the accelerator I hear a squeaking sound coming from beneath the car.?
carefully drive to the dealer and let them hear it--and then let them fix it--it won't get better without a proper repair. the dealer repair is warranted for a while--so the money is well spent. Could even be the belt--a cheap fix. but let them check it all.
Sounds like a dry u-jointI have a 2000 Dakota. When I release the accelerator I hear a squeaking sound coming from beneath the car.?
it could be a bad u-joint or a bad wheel bearing causing this ,id check the u-joint first they will do this when you let off of the gas, when you accelerate sometimes you,ll hear a pop sound or a small knock from them, you can check that with it in neutral, and the wheels blocked so it cant roll, check to see if there any free play in the joints ,make sure the e- brake is on also, good luck.
