My wife and I are from US (college graduate student) can we use ISIC and get discount for translink or Airtrans ticket from Bisbane to Gold Coast? Our trip consist of Melbourne, Cairn/Port Douglass, Brisbane/GC, and Sydney for about 24 days. We will be flying from US to Melbourne, Melbourne to Cairn (rent a car to travel between Cairns and Port Douglass), and fly from Cairns to Brisbane (no car rental here and prefer to use public transit) and Brisbane to Sydney. Any advices or comment will be greatly appreciated. PS. We will be traveled from 12/22/09-1/16/2010. Any comments or advices will be greatly appreciated. -d-Brisbane to Gold Coast Train discount for College Student?
Cheaper to fly from Brisbane to the Gold Coast than take the train? Ridiculous! They are so close there aren't any flights between them. If you wanted to fly you would have to hire your own private jet and even then it would probably take longer than the train ride.
Brisbane to the Gold Coast by train only takes an hour.Brisbane to Gold Coast Train discount for College Student?
You need an Australian student card to travel cheaper on the trains. Sometimes it is cheaper to fly take a look at jet star and virgin flights

You will be travelling in peak time which is our holidays so things may be more expensive. Although in Cairns it is the start of the wet season up there in the tropics so you may get some cheaper deals in accomodation if you are looking for accomodation try www.wotif.com for deals but one would only book a week or 2 in advance there. The drive between Cairns and brisbane is good if you change your mind and take a hire car or camper then you can sleep in the camper there are plenty of free places rest areas near the highways and you could call in to Airlie beach gateway to the Whitsunday islands. Expect hot humid weather up North that time of year. Virgin have a happy hour between 12 and 1pm Australian time and jetstar have friday frenzy on a friday between 4 and 8pm for cheaper flights.
