Normally when flying a plane you need to create lift. By tilting your nose up and adding thrust you create this. Changing directions in air is what is called banking. You need to move either the right or left rutter to tilt the plane in the opposing direction in which you want to go in order for it to start banking. Your thrust controls your altitude. Decreasing you thrust causes the plane to lose altitude (note: you need to be controlling both rutters simultaneously in an upward motion if you want to go straight down and not banking downward) I maybe mistaken on this as I havent played a flight sim in a while
Adding thrust increases your altitude while holding the rutters downward.
