I'd say the primary qualification is to be a certified diver. If there's competition for the position, advanced certification would be a plus. I don't think you have to have a degree in marine biology to do cleaning and maintenance work, but again it could give someone an edge if there are several qualified applicants for the same position. The best way to find out would be to ask someone at the aquarium.
