When you apply for jobs, call and ask for the status of your application about 4 days-to a week after applying. Make sure your applications get to the managers, and be clean, well-dressed, calm, easy-going, and pay attenion. (If you live in the U.S) you probably know about our economy. Tons of poeple have already gotten laid-off. Supermarkets, restaurants, mall shops, and department stores are probably getting bombarded with applications. So unfortunetly getting a job isn't easy right now. Almost everyone is out there job searching.
It took 2 years for someone to hire me. If you wanna know if a place is hiring or not, ask a manager. If the manager tells you that they are hiring, ask them for what positions and ask them if they are looking for people to work certain days. When some place like supermarkets hire, they look for people who can work certain days and certain times. Apply to work for ever supermarket, restaurants, coffee shop, in your area. Goodluck.
Step-by-step process
1. Find out what your skills are.
2. Find out what kind of companies or positions need your kinda person.
3. Apply for work and these places whether or not they have a vacancy advertised.
4. Prepare for interview by knowing your strengths (aka. using the information you developed in step 1)
Good luck.I'm 19, and I need to find a job, but it has been hopless, i've done lots of application for supermarkets.....?
Since we can't read your mind, how about listing all of the things you are looking for and then perhaps your question can be answered by saying you need to get off the internet and apply to places in person so they can see what they are hiring.
Try a temp. agency. Not always the most glamorous of job and usually not for permanent placement. However it could get your foot in the door somewhere or at least give you more work related skills!
Good Luck!!!
Do you have any friends who are working somewhere you might like working? If so, see if you can apply there. Often, if you know someone and they will speak well of you, that is a good way to get an "in". Don't bring a resume, unless you actually have worked somewhere else and the work either applies or was enough to "say something" about you. Otherwise, just apply. Try putting the application in when the manager will be there and maybe you can talk to them so they can remember your face, your smile, etc. Sometimes, metroparks hire for the summer. What sort of interests do you have, special skills, etc.? Maybe you can try to use these in your job search. Do you like golf? If so, see if you can get a job at a golf shop, or on the green. Are you a techy? Try getting a job helping out with something like that. But, even if you think you should do all this on your own, having someone speak up for you, as a friend who already works somewhere, is often a helpful approach. Try to get training in an area of interest, if you can, after you find some employment, or even before. Be careful not to get hooked into online scams.
