Ok, I'm pretty much put in applications in most of the stores/restaurants I can work at. Over the past week, I've put in applications in, but not limited to: Walmart, Publix(just did this one like 30 minutes ago, might I say their application center was put in a very uncomfortable place), Ruby Tuesdays, Applebees, Sonny's, and Wendy's. I've even applied to the Village Inn like a month ago, but heard nothing. However, being an 18 year old college student who has never had a job, I am confused what to do now. The obvious thing to do is to wait, but I did that last year while trying to get a job, and got absolutely nothing. I've also heard you are supposed to call the manager of each store to ask about the status of the application? Who do you ask for when you call? What do you ask(like specific wording of the question, I am shy with new people so I'd like to know how to word the specific question before calling)? Or is it better to go in to ask about that? How long after the application was put in should you inquire about it? 2-3 days or a week or two?
ThanksWhat to do now that the applications are in?
After turning in a job application, you should wait at least 5-6 days to give them a chance to look over everything (not just your application, but others that have been turning in too). If you still haven't heard anything after that, then you can give them a follow up call. Here's what you can say: "Hi, my name is ______ and I turned in an application about a week ago (or however long it's been). I just wanted to check on the status of it, and see when I could possibly come in for an interview."
Good luck finding a job :)
