Cardinal tetra
Neon tetra
Female bettas or a male
Gouramis
Guppies
Corydoras
Coolie loaches
Golden nugget Plecos
I dont want all of those in a tank because there are a million reasons not to but their species i like if anyone could tell me a choice from them or different fish and how many of each thanks.Filling my 25 gallon tank?
With a potential to grow to 14inches long i would say the tank is too small for Golden Nugget Pleco's. Smaller growing plecos like Clown Pleco's or Bristlenose Plecos would be much more suitable :) . But the rest of the fish would not outgrow the tank, mixing %26amp; matching these are some stocking combinations i would go for;
5 Guppys (either 1male 4females or 5males or 5females- having an all-male group will prevent fry problems. You need at least 3-5 males to make an all-male guppy group work out)
7 Neon or Cardinal Tetras
5 Corys or Khuli Loaches (of same type)
Or
5 Female Betta's
7 Neon or Cardinal Tetras
5 Corys or Khuli Loaches (of same type- i would personally not go for both as you don't want to get too many bottom dwellers in a 25gal tank)
I would not keep Bettas %26amp; Gourami's together (male or female) as they are similar fish in origins and can have disputes with each other. Male betta's tend to do best in small tanks (between 3-10gallons) with few other tank mates- they're not strong swimmers (so can stuggle in bigger tanks that have strong currents coming from the filter) and can be difficult to stock with community fish in general as they either pick on other fish or get picked on themselves (due to their long flowing fins they're not very fast swimmers and so are an easy target for fin nipping by other fish- even relatively peaceful fish can take advantage of a slow vulnerable male Betta). Female betta's tend to do better in community tanks due to their much shorter finnage etc.
Another stocking combination;
1 Opaline Gourami (will be the centerpeice fish)
8 Cherry Barbs (some of the smallest growing %26amp; least aggressive or fin nippy shoaling fish out there)
5 Corys or Khuli loaches
(Gourami's thrive best in planted tanks, particularly tanks with tall or floating planting, and Cherry Barbs will flourish in this environment and make good tank mates with gourami's of any type. With Neon or Cardinal Tetras, though peaceful fish by nature, you may experience a minor amount of harrassment towards a Gourami as they are slow swimming fish which are not competitive feeders and their "feelers" are vulnerable to being nipped). Gourami's thrive best in peaceful chilled out planted tanks :) .
In any of these combinations you could have a Bristlenose pleco or trio of Clown Pleco's ^_^v .Filling my 25 gallon tank?
Over crowding a tank will only mean trouble. Be careful of what kind of fish you mix together because some are very aggressive. The guppies and neon are good together along with tiger barbs and zebras. Sword tails are also a good breed to have. Angel fish are very aggressive so be careful of that. I would put NO more than 4 of each breed in a 25 gallon tank. My advise is to get two tanks and have less fish in each. Put artificial plants and stones to make it look nice. A nice glass cleaner fish is also good idea. They eat the algee from the glass and also a bottom feeder like a carfish that will eat the left over food from the rocks on the bottom. The more fish in a tank, the more times you will have to clean the tank.
