While the Neo-Cons were busy implementing their plans to completely take over the Republican Party and give the moderate Repubs the big snub....Democrats were busy implementing a plan to completely take over the USA and to give moderate Repubs a welcoming hand to give them a super majority.
With the Spector defection it is now quite clear that the Republican Party is the exclusive home of the Hannity, O'Reily and Limbaugh political ideology of far right extremism...and the Washington Post reports a poll of only 20% of the population now identifying themselves as Republican.
Hey!! Congratulations!!! Neo-Cons are now the owners of the Republican Party!!! They won!!! They kicked center right Arlens butt!!!
So...do you guys feel like winners?
How is that 20% going to hold up in future elections?
Aren't any of you a little upset that your plan netted you a golden nugget...while the Democrats plan netted them the whole Gold Mine?Neo-Cons...did you guys really not see what was happening the last 2 years?
I agree 100% with your analysis so far. The extreme right did seize control of the Republican party. That can happen when one party is in charge of everything. Further I will be willing to bet there is nothing that Republican Party can do on its own to regain power. That said remember the old saying "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts Absolutely." I have full faith that either Reid, Murtha, Kerry, Boxer, or Feinstein is going to do something that gives the Republican party new life. For example Boxer was on 60 minutes saying she is waiting for the right second to bring back the Brady Bill, which the Republicans were able to use the first time back in 1994 for the biggest rout ever in the mid term elections. Again though it is going to take a mistake on the part of the Democrats for the Republicans to retake power as most Americans are still angry with former President Bush.
It is not the conservatives that lost it was the republicans that claimed to be conservatives but in fact were anything but. Bush was no neo-con and to say otherwise is to show that you do not understand conservatism. McCain was not a Neo-Con but I think he was more conservative than Bush on financial issues. Rush Limbaugh is not a republican although he is a conservative. You, like many other people, seem to believe that the party (republican) and the ideology (conservative) are one in the same but that just is not true. Both parties sale out all the time but ideologies are usually with a person for life. Many politicians ideology is simply what can I do to further my career today. It is these guys we need to boot from office and not a party as a whole.Neo-Cons...did you guys really not see what was happening the last 2 years?
It's almost regretful to witness the demise of a once-vibrant political brand, but the cons have truly created the abyss for themselves by adhering to the Bush/Cheney failed policies, incompetence and lies for the past 8 years. The GOP must moderate itself by finding a modern, new leader who will appeal more to independents than their current pandering to the right-wing fringe. 20% is certainly a sad commentary.
Good riddance, is what I say. He knew he had screwed himself when he became a traitor to the party. He only switched over so he could win the next election. Polls showed him way behind. And of course the thousands of emails and telephone calls to his office by outraged supporters probably helped him make his decision to cower behind Pelosi's skirt! We are winnowing out the trash, at last!
Specter's in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens and the 787 billion dollar pork-barrel spending bill that the country can't afford. What's so "moderate" about that? He's a liberal.
The democrats plan netted only fool's gold for all of you that believe that team Obama will put this country in a place that you want to be 20 years from now.
Specter has been a RINO for most of his career.
The GOP will post huge gains in the midterms.
We are so smart.
Feel all relaxed now? great, now for the bad news, YOU ARE SO WRONG!
nice!!
