Do cruises have itineraries?

I would love to take a trip, preferably on a cruise, but there is one problem. I heard that most, if not all of them, have specific daily regiments. For example, if they have formal dinners, you would be required to attend in formal attire. And for dances, or whatever.

I would love to go on a cruise, only on my own itinerary, not theirs.

Is this true that cruises do this? And which ones, if any, do not require daily events?Do cruises have itineraries?
No cruise "requires" that you attend anything except the safety drill! They do, however, have dress requirements/suggestions for the formal dining rooms, and people who are not dressed appropriately are not admitted, and can have dinner in the lido buffet instead -- or room service. "Not appropriately" that results in denial of entry means jeans, shorts, swim attire, and that usually applies to lunch as well as supper. What constitutes "formal" and "informal" varies from cruise line to cruise line. (What I wear on Cunard for "informal" is usually enough for "formal" on most other ships.)

Some cruise companies are more formal and traditional than others, of course. It sounds as though you will be happiest on one of the least formal, such as Carnival.

I suggest you NOT travel with Cunard, Holland America, or any of the super-star sort of ships such as Silver Seas. On those, the "dress for the evening" applies to ALL areas of the ships and not just the dining rooms, beginning usually about 6 p.m. and continuing all evening.

Your travel agent can assist you in finding the cruise that best meets your budget, your preferences, and your expectations.
They all do have daily itineraries, but you don't have to follow them. Besides the formal dinners, they have all you can eat buffets or free room service. The itineraries also show what time shows are going to be and all of the other activities going on during the day like ice sculpting and fruit carving. It's fun! The club I believe is open every night and you can dress any way you want. So like either on the first or second night, they're going to have a "meet the captain" cocktail party in the atrium (this is on all ships). That is when you have to dress up and the itinerary tells you when the dinners are formal or casual. It's very simple. Have fun! :)Do cruises have itineraries?
All cruises have itineraries but you don't have to follow them, you can do as you like for the most part except most cruiselines do you require you to dress for formal nights except one, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). NCL has a freestyle policy, you can go casual or formal its up to you. You don't have to be locked into a particular dining time either, there's alot of restaurants onboard and you can dine where ever and when ever you want. I would suggest NCL to you, see their website for their cruise offerings:
